Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine, sparked when I was just 12 years old. My uncle—a dedicated photographer—upgraded his camera and gifted me his old Pentax Spotmatic F. It was my first “proper” camera, and I was instantly captivated. I spent countless hours exploring the world through its lens, discovering how photography could transform ordinary moments into lasting memories.
As the years went by, life naturally became busier with family and work responsibilities, and I gradually found less time for my hobby. Eventually, I took a 12-year break from photography, setting aside my camera but never quite forgetting the joy it brought me.
In 2021, everything changed when I was rushed to the hospital with a dangerously high pulse of 240bpm. Diagnosed with a genetic heart condition, I had an ICD fitted and was strongly advised to reduce stress in my life. In that moment, I remembered the peace and happiness I used to find in photography—those carefree days spent wandering with my camera, fully immersed in the present. Rediscovering photography was like reconnecting with an old friend, and I haven’t looked back since.
Determined to take my passion to the next level, I enrolled in the Professional Diploma in Photography with the Institute of Photography in 2022. After 2.5 years of dedication, I was thrilled to graduate with distinction. This achievement also earned me qualified status with the Guild of Photographers, marking a significant milestone in my journey.
Now, I take my camera everywhere and capture whatever catches my eye. For me, the simple act of looking at the world through a lens is incredibly relaxing and fulfilling. If I manage to take a great photo, that’s just a wonderful bonus.
Photography is more than a hobby for me; it’s a source of calm, inspiration, and lasting joy. I’m grateful every day for the chance to see the world with fresh eyes and for the recognition I’ve achieved as I continue to grow as a photographer.
